Big Island Basics
The Big Island has two sides, just to keep it simple. The "Dry" side is where Kona is located and the "Wet" Side is where Hilo is Located. Both are worth a visit as
they each have unique attractions and features! Bougainvillea B
& B is strategically
located about half way between the two main centres of
the island making it a great location to visit both sides from.
Kona Side (dry)
The Kona side is on the leeward side of the island. It has more sunny days than
any other part of the island. It also has the most activities and resorts available.
Hilo Side (Wet)
The Hilo side is on the windward side of the Island. It's GREEN everywhere! Hilo
gets around 140 inches of rainfall a year. It has beautiful water falls and lush
rain forests and is
very close to Volcanoes National Park.
